QUITO

Quito is Ecuador’s capital city nestled in Andean valleys at 2,850m (9,350 ft) and surrounded by beautiful mountains and snow-capped volcanoes. The UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site is the host city of the Amauta Spanish School. Founded in 1534, Quito was constructed on the foundations of an ancient Incan city. It is known for its well-preserved colonial center, rich with 16th and 17th-century churches and structures blending European, Neo-Gothic, Moorish and indigenous architecture. The area is picturesque and diverse, where you can discover Colonial treasures in the Old Town and enjoy the nightlife of the modern metropolis. Quito is also an excellent location to organize different trips around Ecuador. From here, you can visit tourist sites in the jungle, coast, or highlands and take a direct flight to the Galapagos Islands.

SPANISH SCHOOL

The school is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the heart of the new town. Ecovía, the central public transportation system throughout the city, is steps away and close to Carolina Park, shopping centers, banks, restaurants and foreign embassies.

Getting here:  Mariscal Sucre Quito International Airport (UIO) is the main gateway to Ecuador and one of the busiest airports in Latin America 18 km east of the city of Quito.

PROGRAMS

ONE-ON-ONE Intensive Spanish classes are available from 4 to 7 hours per day, five days per week. Group sessions are 4 hours per day with a maximum of five students per classroom.

Our GROUP classes follow a communicative approach. They are participative and interactive. You will be encouraged to start speaking from the first lesson through games and fun activities. We practice grammar, speaking, reading, writing, listening comprehension and vocabulary.

After an initial evaluation, students will be placed in one of eight levels of Spanish. Classes begin on Mondays, and you will be placed in the appropriate group based on your level of Spanish. With your confirmation, we will provide instructions on when and how to complete the level placement evaluation.

Note: If the group’s minimum number of students per class is not reached, you will receive 15 hours of private, one-on-one lessons at no additional cost.

SPANISH + VOLUNTEER

This program combines Spanish lessons with a voluntary position. Students can choose between different projects in the social or ecological fields. Most of the projects are located out of the city, and housing will be near. You can volunteer at the same time as your Spanish instruction or after your language training. Note: Some social projects ask for a small monetary contribution, and most ecological projects for volunteers ask for a payment that covers lodging and meals.
